About ICRC

The International Clinical Research Center (ICRC) is a biomedical research institution dedicated to advancing cardiovascular, neurological, oncological, and translational medicine. Bringing together scientists, clinicians, and industry partners, ICRC bridges laboratory discoveries with clinical practice to develop innovative approaches that improve patient care.

Our History

2011

Establishment

OP RDI grant awarded; construction and development of the ICRC infrastructure began. The ICRC is led by cardiologist Tomáš Kára.

2013

New Leadership

Gorazd B. Stokin, a world-renowned neurologist, was appointed Director of ICRC following an international selection process based on the recommendation of an independent Search Committee.

2013

ICRC Academy

The ICRC Academy was established, providing educational opportunities to dozens of students every year.

2014

I. Evaluated Center in the Czech Republis

First evaluation of ICRC’s research activities and outcomes by the International Scientific Advisory Board.

2015

Patent granted

First ICRC patent awarded: a joint patent with Masaryk University for a compound with potential use in the treatment of prostate cancer.

2015

Center for Translational Medicine

Research teams restructured and the Centre for Translational Medicine established within the ICRC.

2019

Competitive center

Development of the 2021+ funding plan, Several Prestigious International Research Grants Awarded.

2021

New Head of ICRC

Distinguished Czech neurologist and neuroscientist Irena Rektorová was elected Head of the ICRC.

2021

HR Award

ICRC was awarded the prestigious HR Excellence in Research Award by the European Commission in recognition of its commitment to excellence in human resources for researchers.

2022

Connection with the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University

The ICRC became a joint institution of St. Anne’s University Hospital Brno and the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University.

2023

New EKG Technology

A licensing agreement was signed for the patented ECG technology, marking a major step toward clinical application and market commercialization.

2024

Michal Masařík Appointed Head of the ICRC

Renowned expert in cancer biology Michal Masařík was appointed Head of the International Clinical Research Center (ICRC)
